Seven 9s and 10s

The Influence

OK. I give in.

Other artists that deserve a mention for spending significant time in my car stereo, alphabetically: The Anniversary, Burden Brothers, Cake, Rivers Cuomo (Alone releases), Daft Punk, Electric Eel Shock, The Flaming Lips, Ben Folds, Gnarls Barkley, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Imperial Teen, Ozma, Phantom Planet, Pinback, Sarah Slean, SNMNMNM, Tool.

My artist of the decade is David Bazan/Pedro The Lion.  No single artist has created more music in the past 10 years that influenced me as a musician and as a human than has David Bazan.  I believe he’s the greatest songwriter of my generation and his body of work speaks for itself.  His transformation over the past 10 years, from evangelical Christian to alcoholic father to healthy agnostic, has given birth to an incredible catalog of heartbreaking and inspiring music.
