Seven 9s and 10s

Funny story.
I had my 4 wisdom teeth removed back in 2001. I haven’t been back to a dentist since. In those 10 years I’ve been downright militant about oral hygiene. I brush twice a day, floss nightly (if not more), mouthwash, rinses, etc. If I miss a day, I’m all messed up the next day. I can’t function until I’ve done my routine.
Two weeks ago I decided it was time to finally get back into the dentists chair. I’m not particularly afraid of dentists (though I’d be lying if I said the butcher who used to clean my teeth wasn’t one of the reasons I waited so long to go back). However, what I was very afraid of is that I’d done so much damage over the course of the past 10 years that I’d be in for a world of hurt when I finally went back. I mean, let’s be honest here, you’ve all seen the vast quantities of sugary foods and beverages that I assault my teeth with on a daily basis. Hell, the sheer volume of bulk Skittles I’ve bought and devoured in the last 30 days alone is likely more than most people eat in an entire year - and don’t forget about the 30-per-day habit I developed last summer with Wint-O-Green lifesavers.
Well the appointment is over and both the dentist and the hygienist were surprised and impressed by how good things looked. All my hard work has paid off! I do have to return in two weeks to have an old filling repaired, but other than some general sensitivity due to enamel wear, I have no new cavities and no major issues! Success!
