FMGreen - Dear Jenny,
Here’s a song from our first album. To this day it is one of my favorites (though my bandmates tend to disagree), and these are the reasons why:
- I remember the day we wrote it (~1997) as though it was yesterday.
- The melody is pure and uncomplicated.
- The lyrics paint a fairly clear picture of what happened that day.
- It has a perfect bridge.
- It’s 3:57 long, but it doesn’t feel long.
- It’s one of the few songs I’ve ever written for which I didn’t rely on distortion as a crutch for changing the tone of the song. A simple pickup change for the final verse was all I needed.
What do you think?
