“Welcome back, Dave.”
Foo Fighters - “Everlong” (Late Show; Feb 21, 2000)
[snip]…And, brother, is that Taylor Hawkins ever a goddamned force of nature. Crunch.
It’s definitely one of the best songs of the 90s, and this performance is even more impressive when you realize how many subtle changes they made to the song’s structure and dynamics, yet they literally never missed a beat.
But… my favorite part of this song is that by simply changing the first word from “Hello,” to “Jell-O®,” you can turn it into an instant Weird Al classic.

Foo Fighters - “This is a Call” (Letterman, 1995)
1) I remember seeing this live on TV. I just got the same chills that I did then.
2) It’s a miracle that they ever recovered from the tragedy of a band member wearing shorts on stage.
3) Pat Smear is still one of the greatest names in rock. Also, he’s now 50 years old. F I F T Y.

Foo Fighters - Everlong (acoustic)
This is such a good song, and they changed it up nicely in this performance. It’s kind of depressing how uninspired their recent albums have been and even more depressing that those albums were still better than 95% of top-40 rock at the time of their release.
