Current status: all apps on my iPhone open at 1/4 size.
Jailbreaking; it’s not for the faint of heart.
(Click-through for the solution. Advice to potential jailbreakers: SBSettings should always be the first thing you install, after updating Cydia. It is the primary reason I jailbreak.)
You want screens? Here’s all the screenage I’ve got to give.
(I’m continually surprised to find that I’m the only person among us who has jailbroken their device.)

Guitar Oscillations Captured with iPhone 4
by justkylevids
It’s an effect of the “rolling shutter” that the iPhone and most other consumer gadgets use. Richard Gaywood offered a decent summary of what’s going on last year when this effect was used on airplane propellers.

Totally awesome. I wonder how accurate the waves are. I’d guess they are quite close.

No, John D. Sutter at CNN. That’s not what happened, at all.
Apple didn’t “blame” “iPhone tracking” on anything.
Apple clearly defined the reason they intentionally collect the data, and put to rest any questions that the data is used for, or even capable of, “tracking” individuals.
There is a bug, but it has little to nothing to do with the big story. Instead, you’ve taken a minor bug and used it to sensationalize the real story, as usual.
For the record, no, I’m not a fanboy. I’m a stockholder. And this is the kind of bullshit headline and reporting that infuriates me.
I’ve unsubscribed from CNN’s RSS feed. If you’ve got suggestions for a replacement, please leave a reply.
Current obsession: digging through my Aperture library to find photographs that would make good GelaSkins for my iPhone.
It bothers me that they don’t have any photographers in their roster of “Artists,” so if I find enough of my photos that I think will work, then I think I’ll inquire about becoming an Artist myself.
I went to UPS to pick up my iPhone 4. There were 10 more just sitting on the customer service desk waiting for their rightful owners to come claim them.
I can’t imagine how many of those little boxes UPS delivered today (sales numbers should be released soon), not to mention how much money they earned from Verizon for being their delivery service.
Yes. Me too. It’s definitely the end of an era.
Tomorrow my iPhone will arrive and the venerable LG VX8300 will be put to pasture.
I just used my iPod to remote control my iMac and purchase an iPhone, and I did it all from my toilet.
I’m not even joking.
Thank you, Apple. My productivity has never been higher!
That was actually pretty quick and painless.
Now I’ll crawl back into bed.
It’s relevant to point out that I’ve been using the same phone since 2006 and I’m about 3 years overdue for my “free” phone upgrade.
So… waiting a little longer isn’t going to kill me… though upgrading ASAP is extremely tempting.
Verizon. iPhone. Finally. Great. Hooray.
But, here’s my issue…
Todays reports are that Verizon will be offering an unlimited data plan for $30/month, but that this offer will only exist for “a limited time” - the duration of which will surely be kept secret from customers. Obviously I’d want to jump in on an unlimited data plan and potentially grandfather myself into unlimited data for the life of my contract, especially if I plan to use the iPhone as a wireless hotspot.
However, I’d prefer to wait until July to buy the likely-to-be-released iPhone 5. Obviously it doesn’t make much sense to buy an iPhone 4 now and then have to shell out full price in a few months for an upgrade to the latest and greatest.
And so… buy iPhone 4 now and secure myself with an unlimited data plan but then have to pay full upgrade cost to iPhone 5 in just a few months… OR… wait to buy iPhone 5 in a few months and run the risk of getting stuck with a crappy tiered data plan and have to pay frequent overages.
I hate decisions like this.
Does anyone know of an iOS app that I can use to monitor/track the WiFi data usage on my iPod Touch?
Have any of you AT&T iPhone 4 users ever run into your 2GB data limit (assuming you’re on the 2GB plan)?
If so, is it a frequent occurrence?
Despite the seemingly imminent arrival of iPhone on Verizon, there’s still a chance I might go with AT&T - if the price is right or, more accurately, if Verizon’s price is wrong.
All indications are that my patience with Verizon will be rewarded at this event and I’ll finally get an iPhone on my preferred carrier. The question now becomes: will Verizon still recognize the fact that I’m eligible for a free upgrade (and have been for 3 years)? Surely I don’t expect them to give me a free iPhone, but I wonder what, if any, discount they’ll offer to customers in my position.
