In the days leading up to Easter, a certain torrent community ran freeleech (uploading counts towards your ratio but downloading does not count against it) for all FLAC audio files on the site.
This is what I ended up with: 40.35 GB of data from 113 torrents.
Most of it was downloaded to replace existing crappy mp3 files.
My quest for a 100% Apple Lossless iTunes Library is now 113 releases closer to completion.
Are there any horror stories out there amongst my followers?
(I’m not a power user, but would prefer to avoid installing anything that’s buggy.)
And once again, Alsoft’s fantastic DiskWarrior saves the day. This software is magical.
This is what my browser looks like when I’m frantically trying to recover an OS X file system on which resides the Final Cut Pro projects for several high school students.
It’s moments like these that remind me that my job is about helping kids learn by making sure the tools they use are operational and it’s not about dollars and cents and numbers and politics.
I’m trying, I really am, to see things from the perspective of you “non-hiding” dock people, but after a few days I’m still not feeling it.
At this, the smallest size, I am completely unable to read what the badge says on that last app (Transmission), and I don’t like that many apps (including my browser) refuse to load full screen behind the dock.
I’m going to try it for a few days at the smallest size that I can comfortably read the Transmission badge (which is about 75% larger than what you see here), but that eliminates even more useful space for full screen apps, so I’m not sure I’ll enjoy this any better. I do predict that by the weekend I’ll be back to auto-hiding a fairly large dock.
Of course, I do most of my work from the keyboard anyway (hooray Quicksilver) so much of this is irrelevant, but I still am trying to see things from your perspectives.
Who has two thumbs and just freed up 75.1GB from his System drive?
That massive 75.1GB iPhoto Library has been copied off to an external, plus it’s also fully backed up in my Time Machine external.
Still though, that was among the scariest OK’s I’ve ever had to click.
Uh… so Mac OS… which is it? 11.31GB or 75.1GB?
Judging by the fact that it’s still copying and I’m now at 19GB and counting, I’ll have to assume it’s 75.1. I have no idea how that’s even possible, but after the copy is done I’ll be comparing the folders. First I’ll try a diff command, but that might be a bit unwieldy for such a large discrepancy, so I’ll probably end up using Compare Folders.app.
