Then the sky opened up and I was just chillin on my patio listening to a downpour while Manchester Orchestra gently played I’ve Got Friends at the festival down the road.

I came home from work to find iTunes has downloaded the new Manchester Orchestra for me. Happy Birthday to me!
Manchester Orchestra - Leave It Alone
This band makes me sigh.
This band makes me want to drop everything and hit the road with my guitar.

The truthiest statement I heard all night:
“We’ve been playing for almost two hours. You’ve been great. This is our last song. We don’t play encores because it’s a fucking waste of your time.”
-Andy Hull of Manchester Orchestra.
(However, they actually did come back up to play an encore after the 500+ angst-driven teenagers in the audience started a “One more song!” chant. Credit ManchO for giving the fans what they wanted.)

Manchester Orchestra - Tony The Tiger (steelopus cover)
This one didn’t turn out quite to my liking, especially the drum part which I had never played before recording it, but I’ll take it.
Yes, I’m probably too hard on myself.

I’m seeing ManchO again tonight and I’m really looking forward to it.
This is my favorite “new” band of the past several years. They’re writing and performing incredible music at a very young age and I can’t wait to see how they evolve over the next few albums (if they don’t implode before then).

Manchester Orchestra - “I’ve got friends”
Beautiful little video for a great indie rock band.
Nice.
Save for Silversun Pickups, this is probably my favorite new-ish band. They write and perform songs well beyond their years, and it’s no surprise considering how hard they work. New bands, and even existing bands, could do themselves a favor by taking a look at the ManchO work ethic and duplicating it. But regardless of that, they make great, great, great music.
Manchester Orchestra - I’ve Got Friends (20090429 - Letterman)
It takes them about a minute to hit the groove, but it’s worth the wait.
Friday night can’t get here fast enough. I haven’t been this excited for a concert in ages.
Manchester Orchestra - Pride (video)
Unfortunately I can’t embed it here, but click the link to watch the video for this fantastic new song.
This band was excellent on their first album, and holy shit I am so happy with how their sound has evolved and matured on their new album.
Coming soon to mainstream popularity, I present to you: Manchester Orchestra.
(I’ll be seeing them live next Friday. Goddamn; I am excited.)
